Did You Know Changes to ASTTBC’s Certification Policy and Practice Guidelines Have Been Implemented?

In November 2015, ASTTBC updated their Certification Policy for the Onsite Wastewater Certification Board as well as their Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner Practice Guidelines.  ROWPs should familiarize themselves with this document as this is the framework under which we work.

Some significant changes include a change to the experience requirements for those applying for their ROWP Stamp.  The current requirement for Planners and Installers is now three systems, one of which must be pressurized.  The requirement for Maintenance Provider is now five systems, one of which must be pressurized and one of which must be a Type II system.  This is a significant reduction from previous requirements.

A change impacting those undergoing inter-provincial transfers is the removal of the requirement to submit their first filing to ASTTBC for review.  Instead, new ROWPs will receive their Stamp(s) and must anticipate undergoing a Practice Review within six months after commencing work in the industry.

Copies of the Certification Policy and the Practice Guidelines are available on the resources page of WCOWMA-BC’s website.
