Electrical Work Practitioner (EWP) Status for ROWPs

On October 28th of 2013 the BC Safety Authority gave ASTTBC its approval to create the EWP status for registered members that work in the electrical, electronic and bio medical engineering disciplines.  This would enable those interested to qualify for a BCSA credential allowing them to perform a limited scope of work related to their discipline. Candidates holding this specialized credential would not be allowed to do the same work as a licensed electrician.

An ASTTBC EWP would be allowed to test, trouble shoot, calibrate, remove and/or install electrical components. They would be allowed to test structural wiring but would not be allowed to install or modify structural wiring.

WCOWMA-BC is seeking feedback from the ROWP community on whether this type of certification is of interest to them.

If you are interested in pursuing EWP status, please email WCOWMA-BC and let us know your thoughts.  If you are opposed to this type of status, please send us those comments as well.  Comments can be emailed to info@wcowma-bc.com.
