Septic Awareness Week 2025

Mark your calendars!
Septic Awareness Week is around the corner! Taking place from September 15 to 19, 2025, this annual event highlights the importance of proper septic system care. As part of our ongoing commitment to public education, WCOWMA aims to help homeowners understand the value of maintaining a healthy onsite wastewater system.

This initiative runs in conjunction with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Septic Smart Week and offers a valuable opportunity to share best practices for the operation and upkeep of septic systems. We advocate for the use of certified contractors for all aspects of design, installation, maintenance, and inspection.

Training

WCOWMA-BC provides excellent training opportunities for those working in the onsite wastewater industry, whether already engaged in the industry or planning to enter it. The Onsite Wastewater Practitioner Training Program provides a solid base for those wishing to work as Planners and/or Installers.

This program is recognized in the Western Provinces through the New West Partnership (formerly TILMA) and federally through the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA).

Additional field and classroom training sessions are available for continuing education purposes. For information on upcoming training opportunities, contact the WCOWMA-BC office.
