The WCOWMA – BC hosted a Site & Soils Evaluation Field Day in the Langley Region on June 19, 2019. This practical training day was a great opportunity to get hands-on experience evaluating a site, as well as practicing hand texturing and sampling. Stephanie Munn led a full class of participants in the process of identifying and logging soils characteristics. Steve Carballeira and Garth Millan assisted with the class.
Stephanie commented that this is the first site where she has encountered hydrophobic soil (soil that will not accept water). The site was further made interesting as there was significant fill soil.
WCOWMA-BC would like to thank member David Gill for the donation of the site. WCOWMA-BC relies on the generosity of its members to provide accessible sites for field training opportunities such as this one.
Thank you to Graham Tabaczuk, Premier Tech Aqua for sponsoring lunch and refreshments for the class.
Stay tuned for more site and soils workshops.
